Call Centers Committee of American Chamber of Commerce signs agreement of understanding with the government of El Salvador
Aiming to support initiatives that promote private investment and job opportunities for young people, Vice President Oscar Ortiz signed an agreement of understanding, in representation of the government of El Salvador, with the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) through its Call Centers Committee. The main contact center companies in El Salvador, including TELUS International, are part of this committee.
The agreement supports the “Inglés para el Trabajo” (English for Work) program, in which a pilot program trains 250 young people for job opportunities at TELUS International or any of the other participating companies.
This project is sponsored by the Vice President’s Office, the Ministry of Labour, the National Institute for Youth (INJUVE), the Salvadoran Vocational Training Institute (INSAFORP) and the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM). It seeks to train at least 5,000 young people each year to be proficient in the English language so they can find employment at contact centers, taking advantage of the high demand for bilingual people required by the BPO industry.
